Random Ramblings (by Celine): You guys are simply awesome. The Beyond Uber announcement list now has a total membership of 401. How cool is that? Thanks to everyone for joining, and I hope you enjoy being a member.

In other news, I'm pretty tired tonight. See, Raven... lovely, kind, demanding Raven... had these ideas for something, and those ideas sparked my imagination, so I was working on that today. What was I working on? Well, I can't say, but you will be seeing it someday soon. I can say it's pretty.

And I had regular work to do. I try to avoid that usually, but sometimes clients just kind of say, "Hey, Celine... you still alive?" And then I feel compelled to work. If only I could become rich for no apparent reason. Then I could sit around all day, read uber, post to the Beyond Uber page, and watch Xena... okay, so maybe that's what I usually do, anyway. But if I had money, I could do it without feeling *guilty*.

Just kidding... maybe. ;)

In Purple Plaything (a Honda scooter) news, I've put almost 300 miles on the darned thing in the two months I've had it. Considering I live in a small town and the scooter only goes 25mph, that's not too bad. And I haven't crashed yet. That's a good thing. I don't have my "girls kick ass" bumper stick yet, though. The place I ordered it from said part of my order has yet to come in. You know, I would write to them and say something Xena-like to get them to send my order *right* *now*... but, alas, I can't. I don't have the "girls kick ass" bumper sticker, and without it, I'm just not up to my behind kicking best.

Random Ramblings (by Celine): You did miss me! Okay, two people said they did... Nancy and Sandy. Two incredibly cool people. So that's incredibly cool. Thanks to both Sandy and Nancy for writing. :)

In other news, Raven is busy working her little tail off so she can tie up any loose ends at work before she goes to the con (I wanna go!), so I'm doing the update tonight in her stead.

In Beyond Uber mailing list news, we are *soooooooo* close to reaching 400. We're at 396 now. If you aren't a member, you should be. If you are a member, find others to recruit. And if you've already done one or both of those things... thanks!

In Singer's artwork news... oh, she's outdone herself this time. There's a new addition called "The Hug" for your viewing pleasure (and I mean this literally), at:

It's nice. Very nice. Go see.

In unrelated news, let's do some more catching up.... oh, hey... bought a new toy. No... not *that* kind of toy. No, this toy is a SonicBlue Rio Volt portable MP3/CD player. It's very spiffy. This thing plays regular CDs, and CD-R discs with MP3s or Windows Media Files on 'em. How cool is that? So I've been making MP3 compilations of my favorite artists so I can stick 'em in the player and listen for hours without changing discs. My Melissa Etheridge compilation has well over 100 songs. Put that on shuffle and I'm good to go.

Go where, I have no idea. But that's not the point. The point is, I'm good to go if I ever figure out where exactly it is I should go. It's always good to be prepared. Huh... maybe I should have been a Boy Scout. Of course, then I'd have to be a boy, which I'm not, so I guess that's out.

In "vote for us!" news, Raven signed up the Beyond Uber site as a separate entity from the UFFD site on the site ranking feature you'll find on the Beyond Uber site. So if you feel so inclined, you can vote for us via that voting thing there on the page there. It says "Rate Our Site" and is somewhere near the top of the page. Yeah. And we'd appreciate it. You voting, that is.

Pay no attention to the grammar in the above sentence, because the grammar in the above sentence sucks. Thank you.

You know, the Beyond Uber site is more popular than I thought. As of this writing, there were 2213 visitors on Saturday alone.... 3193 since Friday afternoon. This is very cool. Again, I have to say that uber fans rock big time. And uber itself rocks. It's a very rocking world.

    Random Ramblings (by Celine):

    Hi.

Remember me? Been a while. My last post was on April 18th, actually. 10 days. Huh. Singer has been doing a very nice job... and, of course, as has Raven. But it's my turn tonight... so let's get this party started. :) Oh, and I'll be doing the updates while both Raven and Singer are away at the Convention in Pasadena. Yep, I'll be at home, doing the updates, holding the fort, while everyone else is off having fun and seeing ROC and Lucy, and meeting each other. Yep. I'm not jealous... no way. Nope. Not at all.

    I WANNA GO!!!!!!

Ahem. Sorry about that. It wasn't me who typed the above line. No, it was... uh, Tango, my cat. Yeah. He's quite smart, you know. And a big fan of Xena. He would *really* like to see ROC in person. Me, I'm happy to be staying at home. Suuuuuuuuure.

I WANNA GO, I WANNA GO, I WANNA GO!!!!!!

Dang it. Tango really needs to stay away from my computer.

In other news, part of what kept me away from posting will be viewable sometime before too long. As soon as it's finished, that is. And who knows when that will be.

    Some Beyond Uber biz:

The mailing list currently has 391 people. Yes, friends, we're almost to 400. We're so close, we can almost taste 400 (I almost wrote we can almost taste 400 members, but that would have an entirely different connotation ;) ). But you can help, friends. Tell your friends, co-workers, family members, strangers, cable repair persons, mail carriers, and so on to join the list! Be a part of history! You can't help take over the world, after all, if you aren't a part of the uber revolution.

It's all free! It will increase your tax refunds! It will make you lose that weight you gained over the winter! Okay, maybe not, but it's fun.

Other list biz -- I added a new counter to the site on Friday afternoon. It's way down at the bottom. It's pretty. Okay, it's not exactly pretty, but it's nice looking. And I like it when the numbers get bigger. And they are getting bigger... quite rapidly, in fact. Spiffy. Anyway, thought I'd mention it for the heck of it.

That's all in the biz department... so, hey, let's do a little catching up, shall we?

Um. So. Well. Hmmm, I'm sure *something* happened during the last 10 days. Let me think. No, wait, that never works. Um.......

Oh! Tango the Wonder Kitten was neutered the other day. He was thrilled. But he came through just fine and is now back to knocking things over and laying on my pillow at night to where I can't breath because his fur is in my face. But he seems to have stopped trying to mate with the other cats, so that's a happy thing.

An interesting note -- on the paperwork he was sent home with, the little slip which outlined what he had done said he was a boy (which is right), and that he'd had a ovariohysterectomy (which is wrong). Neat trick, considering he doesn't have ovaries. So I called up the vet's office, and the lady who answered said, and I quote, "Our bad." That just reassured me right quick.

I also went to the zoo... no, the Oregon Zoo, not my house. I'm at that zoo all the time. At the real zoo, I took pictures (I'm sure you're shocked) of the various pretty animals... there are elephants and tigers and birds and zebras and so on. Wanna see 'em? Of course you do:

The photos in that directory were taken with a regular digital camera. The photos in the 'small' directory were taken with my video camera, so they're smaller and of a lesser quality. But it has a fantastic zoom, so I had to make a trade off.

In guinea pig news, we still haven't killed off my nephew's guinea pig we're, uh, pig-sitting. In fact, she's grown and seems very happy. She and my cat Murphy are the best of buds. Murphy gets up on top of the cage and gets this big grin on his face (yes, he smiles!) and acts like he's just had a really big dose of catnip. And the piggie sniffs at him.

In fact, I have cute kitty photos from my own personal zoo! Part of 'em have the little piggie in them:

The one called 'kitties_pig.jpg' has all three of my cats sitting on the guinea pig's cage. They're all pathetic creatures. Cute, but pathetic. In that photo, the white and orangish blob on the left is Murphy, the middle orange thing is Tango, and the black mass of fur on the right is Pesha. The guinea pig is Shadow, but we call her Piggie.

In Bard Site Bummer Dude News:

Dreams, author of Alix, Valerie, and Alex & Valerie (you might notice a trend), has reported that her site has died. Her now former web host stopped hosting. That sucks. So she's going to be moving it to a new locale. That doesn't suck. We'll be sure to keep you posted when the new site comes into being. Oh, and Dreams... if it helps, you can have some more of your cows back. They miss you.

Consider this (from Singer) I gotta tell you guys this dream had last night. You see, I was up really late finishing a bunch of stuff. I had a project due for my computer class, the update to finish, and Raven I were working on the images for my page. So by the time I hit the bed, I was cross-eyed and stupid. A little background info: I quit my job to go back to school, and just yesterday, my old boss had called to chat for a while. I guess that's where the dream came from. In the dream, I was working for the day because they were extremely short-handed and they had some emergencies come up. So I'm working my little hiney off, and my boss asks me to stay late. I say, "Sure!" (Like that would ever happen) Well, much to my surprise, I get a phone call from...Raven. I tell her I'm helping out at my old job, and that I'll be working late. What does she say????

"You can't do that!!! You have updates to do!" (end of dream)

Guess that tells you where my mind was last night. I'm surprised I didn't dream in HTML.

So I just got back from my last class of the semester. (You didn't even notice I left, did you?) I feel sooooooo free. I have the summer to do...something. I don't know what yet, but I'll figure something out. It was extremely interesting being the oldest person in class (except for the instructor). I had at least ** years on all of them. Don't ask, cause I'm not tellin'. :) And Raven, don't you go blabbing either or I'll tell them about that time when *mpphhffsbbt*.... :::Singer removes the hand from over her mouth::: Okay, okay... I didn't say it!! Geez! So where was I? Oh yeah, I wasn't telling you how old I was. We'll just skip that, okay?

Consider this (from Singer) Hello everybody. Welcome back to the insane asylum. (crazy laughter) Actually, not alot happened here today. Surprised? I sure was. The plumbers came today to see if they could figure where another leak was, and succeeded only in cutting several perfectly square holes out of the drywall. I guess this means we'll have another project coming up. I'm sure there will be adventures with drywall mud, sanding machines, and nails where they don't belong. Until then, I don't have anything real exciting to talk about tonight...at least that I was involved in. However...

I do have a couple of announcements to make.
First, VOTE FOR US!!!! Near the top of the Beyond Uber page is a Rate Our Site button. We are currently in 5th place. We wanna be number 1!! So, when you visit next time, please rate how we are doing. This will help us make any changes that are necessary. Thank you verrrry much.
Second, and I was forced to say this, there is a new page for your perusal. It's called Uber Fantasies. It's page devoted to uber artwork by...umm...well...me. ***blushing*** Raven has been encouraging me to get some stuff up, so she finally did it herself. I have a lot of fun doing these, so I hope you enjoy them. Now...here we go...

    Wednesday April 25, 2001

Consider this (from Singer) Helloooooo....A few little things to tell you before we get going, today.

For anyone interested, Creation is soliciting questions for Lucy and/or Renee. Here's the email...

Lucy and Renee will be appearing onstage together at the Pasadena convention. I'm going to be the moderator and I'd like to solicit questions for them. They can be for each of them individually or duo questions. You don't have to be going to the convention to send in a question, but if you are, please let me know.
Please send the questions to my email addy at: outback@creationent.com

    Sharon

Okay, so it was only one thing, but it was reeeaally important! :)

So you remember me telling you yesterday about how bad it is if I am awakened abruptly? Guess what happened this morning. "A" comes running in to wake me, yelling somthing about the basement being flooded. Well, I jump out of bed expecting to step in water, but find only carpet. Heading down the hallway, I find "A" in the laundry room...in our new indoor pool. Some pipe or something had leaked, and now a good part of the floor was under a quarter inch of water. So, the water sucker (wet vac) gets pulled out, and I begin sucking water while "A" moves everything out of the pool. She then decides to see if maybe my toilet (which has been misbehaving) was the culprit in our early morning chaos.

"Hey, Singer!", "A" says as she returns pool-side. I turn my head to see... "A" flipping me the bird!! "Wha...? Oh, you want me to look at your finger. Your **blue** finger. "A", why's your finger blue?"

It seems that the recently installed blue-water thingie for the potty decided to be less than cooperative with her. (giggle)

Thus, after a few hours of water-sucking, a trip to Walmart for another fan, and horrible afternoon traffic, here I sit. At least life here is never boring. I just can't wait to see what happens tomorrow... heeheeheeheehee!

    What's New:

    Tuesday April 24, 2001

Consider this (from Singer) Singer here, filling in for the over-worked, over-stressed, over-excitable Raven. Just kidding...about the over-excitable part. Raven and Celine are swamped in real-life adventures, so I guess you folks are stuck with me for the next few days. Sorry.

So...I am not a very coherant person in the mornings. How many of us are? What makes it worse is when I am awakend abruptly. That is what happened this morning. You see, my "A" comes running in to tell me that we are going to be late for the vet appointment. For the dogs, not me. :) Anyway, we rush around getting ready, letting the dogs out, letting the dogs back in, gathering the three that have to go...We make it to the vet office with 3 minutes to spare. Whew!! So we're sitting there, and Claire (the friendly receptionist) asks us what we're doing. She says she wasn't expecting us. I look at "A", and "A" looks at me. You guessed it...the appointment is for NEXT Monday. *sigh* Life is just too interesting sometimes, isn't it?

So, consider this...Can I wax poetic for just a moment? What makes you feel? What moves you? I'm not necessarily asking for replies, but for you just to wonder. There are so many things that cause me to just stop everything and take it in. Sunsets...colors so vivid, that only the human eye can take them all in. The smell of a spring rain. Music...ahhh, music. This is what make my soul breathe. I can sit back and simply let the sounds wash over and through me. It's kind of like a tidal wave of sensations. Very few things are as universal as the power of music. I remember watching the olympic medal presentations, feeling the profoundnees of the moment as the national anthems were played.

I think that's why I write songs. Words are such a powerful medium, but when you pair them with music, the result is something akin to a revelation. Anyway, that's my serious moment for the week. :) On to the fun stuff!!!!!

Consider this (from Singer) Hello out there in Uber-land. Seeing as how Raven is managing to enjoy real life for a little bit this weekend, yesterday's post...well, it never took a breath of life. Soooo, I'll do my best to catch us all up.

    :::waving at Raven:::

"Hey Raven...are you having fun? We sure do miss you something awful."

First off, I wanted to thank all of you who have emailed me. It warms the heart to know that the readers enjoy what we share. I really appreciate the time you took to do so. Those of you who haven't...there's still time to make us feel like the heroines we want to be. You know you want to...just do it. Tell Raven and Celine how much you love them.

Ok, so I spent all day Friday (and I DO mean ALL day) cleaning my office (Otherwise known as the Xena shrine). It was a disaster. I couldn't take it anymore. So I went on a cleaning frenzy. Things got tossed, re-organized, sorted, catelogued, you name it. My "A" came in a couple of times, and merely shook her head and left the room. I guess it was kinda scary...not being able to see the floor at all. But...when it was all over, my office looked like new! I am sooooo happy. I never knew I had so much stuff. It was fun, though, looking through old pictures and souveniers from our trips.

In particular, I enjoyed looking at the Xena odds and ends that I've collected over the years. Brings back memories.

Anyway, on with the show. Raven, we'll see you when you return to the fold.

A list of some publishers are at Missy's site. Order and enjoy.

    Friday April 20, 2001

Consider this (from Singer) Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, and good "what are you still doing up?". Here's another update from your friendly neighborhood uber nerd. I wanted to thank all those kind readers who sent me advice on how to deal with the wonderful woodworking projects that my "A" comes up with. I discovered that the rule of thumb is to measure twice...cut once. I measured one time too many. Remember that folks!

No real excitement here, except the mad dashes we made when we heard the mowers arrive. I run like **** to get the dogs in. We get them upstairs, and look out the window only to see the mowers get back in their trucks and drive away. Away, I say. No mowing, no trimming...just driving. Soooo, we let the dogs back out, and no sooner than we sit back down...you guessed it. The MOWERS!!! Down the stairs I go again. So I here I sit, trying to catch my breath, with sleeping dogs everywhere, typing this out to the relaxing sounds of...mowers.

I put up two little bird feeder on the window in my office. I like to sit and watch them, but they tend to fly away whenever I move. I often wonder why birds are so picky. I watch them pick up the food, spit it on the ground, and continue searching for whatever they feel is more appetizing. I don't think appetizing is spelled right. Oh well.

So Raven asks me if I want people at the big Pasadena con to know I post to the list. I say, "Sure. That's fine with me." She gives me one of those evil online laughs, and now I'm sweating. People, be afraid of this woman. Be very afraid. :::waving at Raven:::

So...I'm thinking of changing my little title from Consider this to How hard can it be. My other half (who I will call A)has chosen this as her motto in life, and demonstrated her philosophy by having us build a bookcase. From scratch. By hand. So we build the darn thing with warped wood that ends up not being the right size anyway. Can you feel the frustration, yet? It gets better. The dog(Gab) helped us. So we finish putting the work of art together (it really turned out quite nice, considering) and A paints it to match the closet walls. Niiiice.
"Lets put it in the closet now", she says.
"Ok", I say. Say it with me..."HOW HARD CAN IT BE"?
    It doesn't fit.
Soooooooo, we move the other two bookcases (stacked on top of each other) around in the closet and try to jimmy it in.
    It still doesn't fit
Soooooooo, we take out the other bookcases...put the new one in...then attempt to put the other ones back in. Guess what?
    They don't fit.
"It's gotta fit...I measured it three times."
So we end up taking one of the bi-fold doors off, and finally get them all in the closet. (No comments)
Thus ends the terror..I mean tale of the bookcase brigade. Anybody have any other projects for me to do? Just send them to me, and I'll be sure make a mockery out of them, as well. On to why we're really here...

Random Ramblings (by Celine): Our lovely Beyond Uber editor Raven was supposed to do the update tonight. But considering I haven't heard from her, I'm thinkin' her email server is down again. That's a bummer. So ya got me filling in. What a deal.

And I'm about ready to fall asleep, so I'm gonna have to cut this short. (Hey, Raven, when you read this, no short jokes! :) )

I get to go to the dentist tomorrow, which is really very exciting. Yep. Suuuuure thing. Wanna go instead? I'll give you a dollar.

I do believe tomorrow's update will be handled by our new update person, Singer. So please give a warm welcome to our newest sucker... dang it. I need to stop saying that. She might develop a complex. Our newest volunteer. Yeah, that's it. ;) And, of course, I want to thank Singer for helping us out... she's doing a great job.

And to our wonderful story summary helpers... Rhonda and Blaize, and anyone I may have forgotten. You guys are very spiffy and we appreciate it.

Now go out there and read some uber... that's an order.

Random Ramblings (by Celine): Someone apparently forgot to send me the memo stating today was 'drive with your blinker on when you aren't turning' day. I felt left out, because it seemed *everyone* was doing it around town today. People really should inform me of these things.

In related news, I spent a lovely evening yesterday driving around town on my Purple Plaything (a Honda scooter). Since it was a holiday, there wasn't much traffic, which meant I could go pretty much anywhere I wanted and not run into problems. I went a total of 16 miles... may not sound like much, but when you're going a max of 25mph in a small town of about 6000 people and soon-to-be two full fledged 3-color-light intersections, it's not bad.

I apparently wasn't the only one with this idea, as I passed the a guy on a motorcycle three times in various parts of town. It was pretty cool to just travel around, explore parts I wasn't able to travel on my old little scooter/cart thing.

I'm still waiting for my "girls kick ass" bumper sticker, but once it comes, by golly, I'm just going to tear up the town. Maybe I'll start a gang. Call it the Purple Playthings. Of course, everyone in the gang would have to have purple scooters. We could be like the Pink Ladies from the movie "Grease". We'll all get matching leather jackets with a Purple Plaything logo on the backs.

Random Ramblings (by Celine): Holidays really do weird things to me. See, I was sitting here, minding my own business, when out of the blue I had... uh, I guess you could call it inspiration to write a short Xena/Gabrielle Easter story. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do it. It's a completely silly story. Good thing I *wanted* it to be silly.

    http://www.xenafanfiction.com/beyond/bunny_story.htm

I would say don't laugh, but that would defeat the whole purpose of the story. So, go ahead and laugh. I can take it. Oh, and I just wrote the darned thing, so if there are any typos -- okay, so the whole thing is one big typo -- I apologize.

In other news, helpful Beyond Uber reader Anna L. informed me there's a an 'ubergeek' t-shirt to go with the 'ubergeek' bumper sticker I mentioned yesterday:

    http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/things/323d.html

This is very cool. Thanks, Anna. You know, this is a good thing. It fits into my plan to take over the world via my ramblings. We can use these t-shirts and bumper stickers as our 'uberware'. Ah, the whole this is coming together nicely. Hey, Anna... wanna be an ubergeneral?

In ASS (annoying song syndrome) news, we have these incredibly helpful contributions:

    From Tammy:

"The old gray mare aint what she use to be
Aint what she used to be
Aint what she used to be
The old gray mare aint what she used to be
    Many years ago"
And from Erica: "I'm Henry the 8th, I am, Henry the 8th, I am, I am.
I got married to the widow next door, she's been married seven times before.
And every one was a Henry, Henry. She wouldn't take a Willie or a Sam.
    I'm her 8th old man,
    I'm Henry, Henry the 8th I am, I am, Henry the 8th, I am!
Second verse, same as the first!"
The circle version of: "Row, row, row your boat
    Gently down the stream
    Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
    Life is but a dream"
Or maybe..... "John Jacob Jingle-Heimer Schmitt
His name is my name too.
    Whenever I go out,
    The people always shout,
    John Jacob Jingle-Heimer Schmitt,
    Tra-la-la-la-la-la-la"
But that's not all. Just check out this site:

    Campfire Singalong:
    http://www3.sympatico.ca/cottagecountry//dir-cam.htm

This site has all kinds of annoying songs, such as "Frere Jacques," "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," "If You're Happy" (a personal favorite), and "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean." But, consider these lyrics:

    http://www3.sympatico.ca/cottagecountry//songs/m-mybon.htm

This isn't the version I learned, which goes like this:

My Bonnie lies over the ocean
My Bonnie lies over the sea
My Daddy lied over my mother
And that is how I came to be
Maybe it's a regional thing. Thanks to everyone for their contributions. :)

Random Ramblings (by Celine): I hope everyone enjoyed the last two updates posted by our new posting person, Singer. As far as I'm concerned, she fits right in. She has six dogs... Raven has two cats... I have three dogs, three cats, and a guinea pig on loan from my nephew... see a trend, here? Yep, you guessed it... we never go *anywhere* without animal hair adorning our clothing.

You can welcome the lovely Singer, who will be posting a couple of days a week, at UberSinger@aol.com. She's very nice, and don't worry, she won't bite. I think. ;)

In ASS (annoying song syndrome) news, you guys sent me all kinds of annoying songs... and tomorrow I'm going to list *each* and *every* one of them. I would do it tonight, but my brain is completely fried after trying to get any number of such songs out of my head. An unsuccessful endeavor, I might add. I'm all tuckered out now.

In other news, observant bard Emily Mills (http://www.agog.net/batgirl/stories) sent me a link to a very cool bumper sticker:

    http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/things/36df.html

It says 'ubergeek'. Even though it doesn't exactly refer to *our* uber, it is very nifty, and I don't see why it can mean what we want it to mean. We can stand up and be proud of our uber geekiness. Stick it on your rear... er, bumper today.

    Consider this...from Singer Singer
Here I am again. Did ya miss me? No? Well that's ok. I miss me all the time, so that more than makes up. Has anyone ever built a doghouse? From scratch? For six dogs? :::watching for the hands to go up::: No one? I guess I'm the only one sick..I mean devoted enough. Now if I can just get the little demons to go inside.

So we decide to build this 8ft x 8ft doghouse to give the babies a place to hide, play, get in from the rain/snow/sun...You see, they sleep indoors, but spend the nice days outside. BUT, after 5 days in a row of rain, we decided that it would be more mentally healthy (for us) if we could give them a place to escape to. So, after 3 days of intense manual labor, their little castle (we call it the Canine Condo) was ready. Did they go in? Did they approach the darn thing? NO! They just look at it, and maybe walk across the porch on their way to the water bowl. We feel so appreciated.

Allow me to introduce our brood to you...

    Sydney...the 1st addition...dauschund/bassett mix...head touble maker...aka: fuzzle-butt, vulture dog, and bent-tail.

    Dakota...the 2nd addition...hound mix...head herding hound...aka: I call her coward, other half calls her cautious .

    Dar...the 3rd victim...black lab/chow mix...head protector...aka: "dammit Dar".

    Kiwi...1 of 3 litter mates we rescued...beagle/? mix...head spoiled one...aka: little man.

Xena...2 of 3...head licker (no comments from the gallery)...aka: belcher.

Gab...3 of 3...head entertainment aka: spasmo, gabfab, & retardo.

Well that's all of them. We don't go to the shelters anymore...it would be too expensive.

Ok, now on to the good stuff...

Consider this...From Singer: Hello and welcome to my first ever update. I am so honored to be able to be a part of such a wonderful site. Thank you Raven and Celine...for the encouragement and for patiently answering all my questions. So here we go...

Consider this...What is fanfic, and why do we read it? I can only speak for myself, but it is a way we enjoy our own personal concepts of a beloved TV show. I know that X:WP has been wonderful(mostly), but the fabulous writers out there took us one step further. They brought us the "true" stories TPTB were either unwilling or unable to tell. Thank you to all the writers out there.

Then a most unusual and awesome thing happened. Someone wrote the first UBER! I can still remember the first one I ever read and my response to it. "Is There a Doctor on the Dig" was an real eye-opener for me. I can't tell you the number of hours I spent on the net downloading piece after piece...stories of what I felt was the perfect love (except my own)...and bringing them into my world. What a gift!

Being into music as I am, I understand the power of the written word. Words have the ability to flow over and through you...to touch the heart, mind, and soul in ways that we can't even fathom. Many of the stories out there do just that. Do we really understand just what it takes to make a reader cry just by looking at words on a screen? It takes skill to make us laugh...angry...sad...All with visions from someone else's dreams. Cool, huh?

Many have followed, and I hope many more will be born in the talented minds of our bards. This is why I am here..thanks for letting me ramble on a bit, and now to what you've really come here for...

Random Ramblings (by Celine): In icky health news, our lovely Beyond Uber editor Raven is still ill... in fact, she has a sinus infection. That sucks. Make her feel better by sending her email (ravensnevermore@home.com) and get well cards. And, as always, thanks to those who have already sent cards and emails. Raven very much appreciates each and every one of them.

In happy mail news, guess what I received in the mail today? Go ahead, I'm waiting. Guess. No, it wasn't that. Not that either. No.... not *her* either, although I wouldn't object. Any other guesses? Give up?

I received my very own bard signed copy of Carrie Carr's "Hope's Path" sent to me by the very cool bard herself. I'm so happy. It's inscribed by Carrie and AJ. I'm so happy. And I'm *very* grateful to Carrie and her AJ. You guys rock. Order your very own copy of Hope's Path... and Destiny's Crossing while you're at it... at:

    http://www.rapbooks.com/order.html ... or at http://www.amazon.com.

    I'm so happy.

In other news, here's another push for Beyond Uber mailing list members. Yes, friends, it's that time again. So, coerce all your friends, relatives, random strangers, enemies, etc., into joining this wonderful, exciting, stimulating, awe inspiring, fantastic, and all around spiffy list. At present, we have 370 members, which is very cool. But I know we can raise that number to at *least* 371, if not 372. So, come one, come all! Joining will make you more popular, better looking, multi-skilled, rich, and your IQ will jump at least 50 points. Just send an email to beyonduber-subscribe@yahoogroups.com or fill out the little form at the top of this page in the lovely yellow box and follow the resulting instructions. You'll be glad you did.

In Annoying Song Syndrome (ASS) news, helpful Beyond Uber reader AC (aka Nyxie) is furthering the ASS quest (um... that didn't quite come out right. Oh well.) by providing the absolutely intelligent lyrics to "Yellow Submarine" by the Beatles ("We all live in a yellow submarine...a yellow submarine...a yellow submarine...") and another which goes like this:

"I know a song that gets on everybody's nerves, everybody's nerves, everybody's nerves, I know a song that gets on everybody's nerves and this is how it goes...."

And another helpful Beyond Uber reader Mares sent over the ol' standard "Old MacDonald Had a Farm." For those of you who are... *gasp*... unfamiliar with the lyrics, here they are:

    "Old MacDonald had a farm
    E-I-E-I-O
And on his farm he had some pigs
    E-I-E-I-O
    With an oink, oink here,
    And an oink, oink there,
Here an oink, there an oink,
    Everywhere an oink, oink
    Old MacDonald had a farm
    E-I-E-I-O"
You can vary this lovely classic by using different animals and animal noises. This means you can keep going and going and going...

Mares was also kind enough to remind me of "It's a Small World After All," which as we all know, has these inspiring lyrics:

"It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
    It's a small, small world"
And it really is. I mean, just think about this list/web site, for example. I get to bug literally hundreds (if not thousands) of people from all over the world with my ramblings *every* *single* *day*. And I don't have to leave home to do it.

This may or may not be a good thing. I'm not really sure. But I shall only use these powers for good. Of course, good is a relative term.

    Random Ramblings (by Celine):

    Sing it with me now:

It's the song that never ends
It goes on and on my friend
Some people started singing it not knowing what it was
And they'll continue singing it forever just because
It's the song that never ends
It goes on and on my friend...
Helpful Beyond Uber reader Saundra has finally done it. She has succeeded in not only removing "Zip a Dee Do Dah" from my brain, but *also* the Barney song. Unfortunately, to do that she replaced it with a song which quite literally doesn't end. Those of you familiar with the late Shari Lewis and her faithful yet annoying sock puppet Lamb Chop might recognize the song as the closer to one of her TV shows which ran on PBS (Public Broadcasting Station for those outside the US) a few years back.

I first became familiar with that lovely, wonderful, irritating, repetitive, annoying, obnoxious song when I babysat my nephew when he was but a wee lad. He watched that show, along with a myriad of others... although, thankfully, Barney was off limits. Thank God for small favors. Anyway, after many years in therapy, I'd finally managed to remove that song from my head. In fact, the only songs I really had to contend with on an ongoing basis were "Deck the Halls," "The Wedding March," and "Frosty the Snowman" (no, I'm not making that up... those songs really do go through my head all the time)... as, as of late, "Zip a Dee Do Dah" and the Barney song.

But all that has changed, thanks to Saundra. I am *so* grateful I might have to shoot myself.

In related news, I am very happy... um, sad? Yeah, sad to report that Chriss, the helpful individual who sent me the Barney lyrics, has in fact implanted those very lyrics into her *own* brain. I'm not the only one suffering from Annoying Song Syndrome (yes, friends, that acronym for that is ASS). I take comfort in this.

And, of course, I am able to share this affliction with all of you. That makes me happy.

By the way, Chriss, you can threaten me with all the Telebubbies you want, but know this -- if need be, I'll go Power Ranger on your hiney. I might even resort to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (remember them? Hmmm?). And it won't be pretty.

Random Ramblings (by Celine): It was bound to happen. I set myself up for it. I fell right into the trap. I'm just glad only one person followed through, or I'd be in a looney bin right now. I know, you're shocked I'm not there already. So am I.

Anyway, helpful Beyond Uber reader Chriss was... uh, kind enough to send me some of the lyrics to the Barney song in a selfless gesture to get that Zip a Dee Do Dah song right out of my head (see yesterday's update for more exciting info on this very topic).

Yes, friends, don't be concerned about me, sitting here with not only the Zip a Dee Do Dah song in my head, but *also* the Barney song stuck in my brain. AT THE SAME TIME!!!

I'm okay, really. Just because I have bizarre variations of both songs in my head is no reason to worry. I love a dee do dah... my oh my you love me... we're a happy wonderful day... mister bluebird great big hug and kiss comin' my way...

You know, that sort of works. Sort of.

So, it's not a problem. And I don't blame KM Moon for starting this whole thing in the first place, just because she was... uh, kind enough to mention Zip a Dee Do Dah in her latest story part. And I won't even mention her hopefully idle threat to use the Barney song in her next story part. Because I'm sure she was just kidding.

    SHE WAS KIDDING, RIGHT???

Of course she was. But even if she wasn't, I can handle it. I'm perfectly okay. But I feel it prudent to take certain precautions to ensure I will continue to function within (relatively) normal parameters.

I will diligently avoid the Disney movie, "Song of the South," because the Zip a Dee Do Dah song is from that movie. I will also avoid watching Public Broadcasting in the mornings, because they like to inflict Barney upon children and their unfortunate parents during that time period. Finally, I will avoid listening to *anything* which may put me at risk of hearing either of those songs.

So I guess I'll be living in complete isolation. Bummer. But at least I'll be just fine mentally.

    Yeah, right.

In other news, our lovely Beyond Uber editor Raven is still not feeling well, and she wishes to thank everyone who sent her get well wishes (her email is ravensnevermore@home.com... send her some more!). Get well soon, my friend. I'm gonna need you, as my mental health is disintegrating faster than you can say "Baby Bop".

And Chriss, you should indeed be thankful for not living anywhere near Oregon, as I would have to Baby Bop you over your noggin for sending me those Barney lyrics!

I'm going to bed now. I couldn't really find that much to put in the update (which of course means I missed several important ones... it always does), anyway, so look for update stuff tomorrow.

Random Ramblings (by Celine): In totally cool people news, girls kick a**. Seriously and truly. And one in particular, the wonderful behind kicking bard Carrie Carr (http://www.angelfire.com/tv2/xg/carrie.htm), found a site which sells a bumper sticker which says just that:

    http://www.allpride.com/miniitems.htm

I am officially a happy camper. I bought the "girls" one and a handful of others. They have all kinds of 'em, including "Xena Rules". Thanks a bunch, Carrie, for sending me that URL.

In health news, our lovely Beyond Uber editor Raven is feeling under the weather, with a bad, mean, unwelcome cold. That's not a happy thing. Send her some get well wishes, maybe some chicken soup, chocolate, that sort of thing, at ravensnevermore@home.com.

In new bard's site news, Kim "KP" Pritekel has her own web page at Eternal Soulmates:

    http://www.angelfire.com/trek/eternalsoulmates/kps/kppage.htm

This is very spiffy, and KP is a great bard. In fact, you should go read her stories.

In KM Moon news, I want to thank her for mentioning a certain song in the latest part of Considerable Appeal (see the list below). Yep, a great big thank you. See, the song, "Zip a Dee Do Dah," is firmly entrenched in my brain, and is stuck on a repeating loop. Over and over and over and over...

It's a darned good thing it's such and great story and KM is such a nice person and a great writer. Yes, KM, I called you a writer. Because you are one. I think you have several fans who can attest to that. :)

At least the song mentioned wasn't the Barney song. For that, I would have had to kick some posterior end. It wouldn't have been pretty.

    Thursday April 5, 2001

Random Ramblings (by Celine): Anyone know where I can get a "Chicks Kick A**" bumper sticker? I think that would be a nifty addition to my Purple Plaything (my scooter)... or to my helmet. For some reason, they don't appear to have any at the stores in my little itty bitty town. Funny that. I should do some sticker shopping on the net. Join me in my quest, won't you? Or skip ahead to the updates... that's what I'd do. :)

Hmmm... how about one that says 'this side up'? No, didn't think so. Here are some interesting ones:

    http://www.idiot-ink.com

    And these are spiffy:

    http://www.decalifornia.com

Ooooh... there are all kinds of sticker sites. I shall be exploring. Wait, I found some good 'uns...

    http://www.stickorama.com

They have one which says '100% Grade A Goddess'. How cool. I think I may have to get that one. I found one which says 'chick with an attitude' at:

    http://www.carstickers.com

So much to see and buy.

    Monday April 2, 2001

Random Ramblings (by Celine): So, how was everyone's weekend? Come on, speak up, don't be shy. What's that? You say this is an announcement only mailing list and/or non-publicly editable web page? Huh. Fine. Be that way. I'll just tell you about mine, then.

It... uh, well, it was pretty boring, actually. Didn't do anything noteworthy. Went to the store... rented a movie but haven't watched it yet... worked... read... slept... etc... the typical.

And now, I'm sitting here trying to get some work done, but I've suddenly come to the horrible realization I can't find part of my work stuff! It's missing!

I've looked everywhere! It's non-electronic (read: paper), so that means it's not on my computer... where could it be? I've looked on my desk (hehe... finding *anything* on my desk... hehe... that is *so* not gonna happen... haha...), the freezer (in the container of Dreyer's new Twix style ice cream... good stuff), on/in/around the TV (oooh... the Simpsons), on my Palm Pilot (oooooh... fan fiction... uber... ooooooh....), it's just not there!

Dang it. Have you seen it, perchance? It's white and has some writing on it. What does it say? I don't know! If I knew, then I wouldn't need it anymore. Hmmm. I found the envelope it was mailed in, does that count? No? Damn. Hey, maybe the Borg assimilated it! Yeah, they assimilated the knowledge contained within the document and then phasered its pasty white behind.

Okay, so I haven't seen any Borg around here (except on my TV screen... Seven of Nine, of course), so I'm at a loss. This sucks, friends.

What am I gonna do??? I'm so screwed!! I'm... uh... umm....

Heh. Found it. It was in a box. I put it there so I wouldn't lose it. Heh.

So I guess I can call off the Red Alert. So, no worries, Boss (you know who you are), I have it covered. Yep, had everything in hand all along. On the plus side, in my not even remotely frantic searching (nope, I wasn't panicked at *all* ;) ), I did find a music CD I'd been missing.

Anyway, guess I should be working, eh? So that means one incredibly short update tonight. Raven sent me some more stuff to post, but it's gonna have to wait until the morrow. Besides, Tango the Wonder Kitten thinks it's cuddle time, and I can't type and hold his growing self at the same time.

    Raven's Ravings (by Me):

Hellooooo Out There..... (echo echo echo)
Good Morning all you Uber fanatics! Sorry for the delays in posting but life has been to hectic and I hope this HUGE update will help make up for the delay.

I am into sharing today soo yesterday I was able to go book hunting (be very quite I am hunting Uber... ) Well I must brag that I was successful.. Yes, I am now the proud owner of
    Redemption by Susanne Beck
    Destiny's Crossing by Carrie Carr
    Chasing Shadows By C. Paradee
True Colours by Karen King and Nann Dunne
And a top ten favorite of mine Tiopa Ki Lakota by D. Jordan Redhawk

Folks the ultimate in supporting these wonderful authors that have been sharing fiction with us for the past 5-6 years is help encourage these and future authors to be published so that those that have not discovered the internet can find these treasures in their local book stores.

I must share with you that talking with the store clerk I mentioned how good these stories were and she asked how I would know since they just came out :) Well I smiled and explained that many of these authors started out on the net. We forget that believe it or not we Are the Few and The Privilaged that read these wonderful stories as they are written.
So email your favorite authors or go to your book stores and encourage and thank these wonderful folks.

In mass I thank all the authors out there and say Keep Those Muses Busy!!! It is most appreciated!!
    Now on to the fiction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
