Consider this (from Singer) Well, since everyone else is talking about their techno problems, I guess I'll throw mine in, too. The MP3 player/recorder that "A" gave me for my birthday never did work. I called Sony several times, ordered a new cable for analog recording, exchanged the darned thing, and it never worked. So...we returned it and ended up buying an Iomega player. It's cool! I love it. Now I have music for my trip.
We also bought this table top system for my office. They call it a Ghetto machine. This thing is so cool looking. The subwoofer is so bad, that it blows air out of these tubes on the top of each speaker. I love it. I can turn it up and the whole house vibrates. "A" doesn't think too much of it, though. :)
Is anybody keeping up with the Xena auctions on eBay? Put your hand down Raven, we KNOW you have. There have been some really neat things put up. I like watching the numbers change as the seconds wind down, and people are frantic to get a final bid in. I've won a couple of things, and can't wait until I get them. Xena's sword was put up today for a charity auction. Thursday's Child will be the recipient of the winning bid. This sword is the actual one that Lucy used on the show, or at least one of them. I hope it brings a lot of $ for the charity.
Can you tell I don't have a lot to say? Other than normal, boring, everyday life stuff, not much has been happening. Kiwi is still limping, and the dogs still refuse to use the dog house. I guess I'm gonna have to move into the darn thing myself. Ewwwwwwwwwwwww!!!
Well, on to the more exciting stuff...

Random Ramblings (by Celine): I'm depressed, friends. My Palm's HotSync feature, which allows me to transfer files between my Palm and computer, has mysteriously stopped working. I don't know why. This means I can't transfer new files (translate: uber) to my Palm. That sucks.

Ah, well. Guess that just means I'll have to focus on something less important, such as work, until I can figure out the problem. Good thing I still have some unread stories already on my Palm, or I'd go completely and truly insane. Not a long trip, you know.

In other "going insane" news, our lovely Beyond Uber editor Raven is once again having computer troubles. She called me this evening to say she was going to go curl up in a corner with her Palm and try to ignore her computer all together for a bit.

Speaking of handheld computers, Lyn at lmm@abacus.com.au has recently purchased an eBook (Reb 1100) from here in the U.S., and doesn't quite know what to do next... ie., transfer stories to it. So if anyone out there can aid her in her quest, please email her. I've never used an eBook like that, so I'm completely clueless. Thanks to anyone who can provide her some info.

In stories I've read recently news, I discovered I had overlooked a couple of very cool classic X/G stories by Queenfor4. I am a dork. But I have corrected that error by reading them. You should, too. In fact, I'll make it easy... here are the links:

Speaking of Queenfor4, I have it on good authority (her) that she's writing an uber. It's not available publicly, not is it finished, but eventually, even if I have to twist her arm -- which would be a feat because I have no idea where she lives -- it will be posted.

First Singer threatens to kill me and then Celine ... well that's just daily torture and abuse.. I tell you I get no respect!

So I have some great fiction listed here for your reading pleasure as you know this is what I live for as well!! That and BURNING cd's :) Note: Some of these are reposts from Celine but Hey I had it in my file first and it would require more work from me to take them out soooo .. that explains that! Random Ramblings (by Celine): Our lovely Beyond Uber editor Raven was to do the update tonight, but she's been doing the movie thing this weekend. Maybe she got stuck to one of the seats by some gum or something. You never know.

So while we wait for an usher to discover Raven, let's move on to the artistic portion of our program. A short poem by Carrie's AJ, commemorating the recent loss of my keyboard to the evils of Pepsi:

Alas, poor keyboard, I knew it well.
Until my soda on it fell
And with a hiss, it was no more
And cost me bucks at the computer store.

-- Carrie's AJ

I don't know about you, but this brought a tear to my eye. Thank you, AJ, for this truly touching poem.

Dreams' site update:

From Dreams --

"Well .. it's still majorly under construction .. but I'm gonna keep working on it tonight. The only link that works right now is the one labeled "stories" ... If any links are broken or something doesn't work, please let me know. My computer tends to humor me by making everything seem like it's fine and dandy ;)

"For now :) Enjoy ..."

Random Ramblings (by Celine): Just so you know right from the start here, I am utterly and completely tired. Pooped. Drained. Out of it. This could cause problems, friends. It could lead to -- I can barely stand to even think it -- my ramblings actually making some sort of sense.

We all know they don't make sense usually, so my being tired could have the opposite effect. I'll try to avoid it, but you never know what will happen.

Moving on, some bard news...

Dreams, author of the possibly never ending (I'm kidding! I think!) Alix and Valerie series has requested I include the following email address:

There, all done. Oh, no, wait... she did cite a reason to mention the address. As you may know, her web site went to the great defunct web space provider sites place in the sky, so she's been rebuilding her site at a new location. If you want to be kept informed of all the new and exciting developments of this and to know when she's posted new story parts, you can subscribe to her mailing list. Hence the email address. Use it to subscribe. Or you can go to the web site to join: Okay, now it really is all done. Oh, and Dreams... thanks for letting me keep a cow. I'm sure I'll enjoy the cow. Say, where I did put the A1 sauce?

In other bard news, Carrie's AJ, author of the awesome Fresh From the Road Kill Cafe story, is taking some time off of writing to focus on real life (which includes her lovely partner, butt-kicking bard Carrie Carr [http://members.home.net/cbzeer]). So for now her stories (one unfinished, and another waiting to be rewritten) at her web page on Migit's site have been removed. She eventually hopes to rewrite Road Kill, as she gets time.

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, and knowing AJ, I know she is doing what's best for her and her family. So I'm sure we all support her in her decision.

In Tango the Wonder Kitten news, in the last couple of hours he's knocked off the hair dryer and a toothbrush onto the floor, and he's shredded more toilet paper. It's good he keeps himself entertained. Wouldn't want him to be bored, after all. The bathroom is a veritable playground for the not-so-little guy.

You might ask why we don't keep the bathroom door closed so he can't shred the toilet paper, etc. Well, we would, but then Kira, my cocker spaniel, would sit outside the door all day thinking there's someone in there, and she would want in to see. Keeping the door open allows Kira to instead lay outside and stare at the fence all day. Which she does. I don't know why.

What's New:

Friday May 25, 2001

Consider this (from Singer) Well, it's still soggy here at water world, but it seems that it may only last through tomorrow. Let me tell you...keeping 6 dogs inside out of the rain just flays any sense of sanity we may have left. The worst of it is that we are having to keep Kiwi (the little boy)in with us all the time. He's pulled a muscle, and we have to make him rest. You see, he can't just walk to point B, he has to run. It's been an interesting few days. We think he's getting depressed from being separated for his playmates.

Oh, and the doghouse project...the one we built so the babies would have a place to get in out of the rain? You remember that one? Well, they don't go in. They look at it, dig underneath it, chew on it, and occasionally run in to hide when they're playing chase. That's about it. I went downstairs to let them in during one of the many rainy moments, and they're all just standing around...IN THE RAIN!! (sigh-grumble-sigh)

Nothing earth-shattering to report. No new projects. No funny happenings. Darn...I'm boring!! Oh well. I guess we'll just get on with the important stuff, unless Raven shows up at the last minute with something for me to post.

What's New:

Thursday May 24, 2001

Consider this (from Singer) The rain just keeps falling and falling. Although today, when I took one of the babies out to wee, the rain had stopped briefly, and the sun was gleaming. I watched the steam rising off the street, and the reflection of the sunlight on the wet concrete was blinding. The whole thing was almost surreal. The sky itself was still mostly dark, but the green of the grass and trees was highlighted so much, that it was just gorgeous. I wanted to share...
I wanted to thank all of you for the millions of birthday wishes I received. I was overwhelmed to say the least. I'm still gonna kill Raven, but I did enjoy the whole thing. Thank you! I had a lovely day, one that I will remember for a long time to come. "A" gave me some really cools gifts. My favorite is the MP3 player/recorder. Once I get it working, I'm gonna be dangerous.
As we approach EoX day, we at Beyond Uber have decided to do a series of artistic tributes to the show. The title of the series is tentatively going to be called "The Gift Series". It will be a series of images depicting some of the different things that the show has given us over the years. As of now, it will consist of seven images, one released every day of that last week. Each one will have a different theme, and we hope you will enjoy them. Anyone wishing to submit artwork for this, or any Uber artwork, please email me. We'd love to showcase any talent we find. Raven,of course, will want to exploit you in every possible way, but at least it will be fun. :)
In other news...I don't have any other news. Sorry. So, without any further adieu....ON WITH WHATS NEW........

What's New:

Wednesday May 23, 2001

Random Ramblings (by Celine): So, last night I was dead to the world (I wasn't feeling well) and didn't post an update. I apologize. And then I had an unfortunate incident involving Pepsi, my computer keyboard, me being a klutz, me giving my Pepsi-dized keyboard a bath, me mourning the death of my keyboard, and me having to buy a brand new keyboard today. I normally use a natural style keyboard, and I bought another today... but it's a different brand, so the keys aren't in the same places as my old keyboard. So any adn lal tyops are the fulat of the kyeboadr. :)

In Tango the Wonder Kitten news, the missing spring out of the toilet paper roll has been found! I have no idea where it was after it disappeared, but I discovered it laying in the hallway the other morning. Evidently, Tango was finished playing with it and decided to give his human a break.

Other things he's played with this last week -- a cup out of the kitchen was found in the garage, a Styrofoam thing out of the garage was found in the hallway partially shredded, he tried to eat the antenna on the cordless phone, he's still shredding toilet paper at least once a day, and my mother's knee has a sizable cut on it from Tango's mad and only partially successful leap onto her lap as she was sitting at the dining room table.

In Purple Plaything news, I have now put over 400 miles on my scooter. And all told I've put well under $10 in gas in the tank... and I'm still working on my first quart of oil. I like that.

In published bards news, I had a gift certificate at Amazon.com, so I put it to good use. I have on order -- Lucifer Rising (Sharon Bowers), Breaking Away (the late Tonya Muir), Out of Darkness (Mary Draganis), and Hurricane Watch (Melissa Good).

There are so many I want to get, and narrowing my choices down was extremely difficult. A partial list of others I hope to be rich enough to buy at a later date -- The Deal (Maggie Ryan), Safe Harbor (Radclyffe... anything by her, actually), True Colors (Karen King, Nann Dunne), Mended Hearts (Alix Stokes), Josie and Rebecca: The Western Chronicles (BL Miller, Vada Foster), and Glass Houses (Ciaran Llachlan Leavitt). Oh, can't forget LJ Maas' books.

I don't want much, do I? ;)

Anyway, I think it is so very cool so many bards in the uber and original fiction realms are being and have been published. Each and every one of you rock big time.

Couple of important announcements:

As some of you have already noticed we have removed the "touching" pic. This was an experiment and we appreciate all of you that took the time to comment on the art work.
The reasons for removal are many and none less important then to make this a site that we all enjoy. Most of the comments were not flames but praises as well as well thought out comments that did raise questions as to the line of comfort that we all have with respect to Lucy and Renee. Also keeping in mind that Beyond Uber's main function is to report Fiction we have decided to continue supporting the arts but in a less explicit tone.
This was a team decision and we feel it was made to support all who come here. We hope you respect our decision and will continue to support our site and our art! Thanks again!!

    Sunday May 20, 2001

Consider this (from Singer) Does anyone have a spare ark that they're not using? We sure could use a few out here in flood-ville. Thank you Celine for posting last night. The lightening was so bad that I wouldn't even turn my system on. Anyway, things are calming down enough for me to be online for a bit, so here I am!!
I want to thank all of you kind folks out there that are hitting the site like crazy. We love you! Splitting from UFFD was a major decision, but one that needed to be made. We want to do so many cool things, and we simply needed a larger domain in which to play. Barry and his team at UFFD helped give birth to Beyond Uber, and we will be forever grateful.
We saw The Mummy Returns today...I liked the first one better. Risking a spoiler, my favorite part is when a mummy-warrior becomes intimately aquainted with a wall. Laughed my a** off on that one. As a whole, I thought the movie was a bit slow. Yeah, there was plenty of action, but it just seemed to drag in places. My advice, rent it.
I learned something very important at the con. This lesson will serve me well for the rest of my life. Would you like to learn it, too? It's very easy. It's a simple chant. Whenever you're wondering what to do, simply remember this... Now repeat after me. "Raven's always right"..."Raven's always right"...
Do you feel it? The peace that steals over you like a sun-warmed blanket.
    "Raven's always right"
A feeling of such overwhelming goodness, that you can't imagine how you've survived all this time without it.
Remember, and it will serve you well. :)
One last thing before we get into the updates. There's a special addition to the artwork page tonight. Wait!!! Don't leave yet. There's a thing or two you need to know about this one. First of all, it took a lot of thought before we decided to actually post it to the page. When I first began doing these images, it was mainly for my enjoyment. Raven convinced me that they were good enough to be shared. I appreciate all the kind, encouraging letters that I have received, and that is one reason I keep me working on them. Second of all, this image will be behind a 21 or over door. Yes, this one is...special. So... if you are not 21 yet, please don't get me in trouble.
Special request...I would like feedback on this one, guys. I need to know what you think of it. Should it be posted? Would Lucy or Renee have a hard time with it if they saw it? Let me know, and be honest. Thank you
That's it for the babbling...let's get to the good stuff.

    What's New:

First off, an update from Shadowfen's site:
Saturday, May 19, 2001 It's been a while... I've been on several business trips, have survived a layoff at work, lost one project and acquired three more, and finally, I totalled my car in April. Good has happened as well, but over all it has been a difficult two months. Now, for the future of the index... I am working on the site right now... cleaning up, removing dead links, adding backlogged stuff. I am planning to keep the index up as long as I have web space and someone is interested in it - however I am also going into semi-retirement where updates are concerned. I'm not going to attempt to keep any kind of a schedule for regular updates and I'm not going to feel guilty if I don't do an update on a particular day. It's been a long time since I've actually had fun with my site. It's been a long time since I've actually had time to read some of the stories that I index. I've had some ideas for improvement that have been shelved for quite a while because of the amount of time it took just to keep up with the updates themselves. I think I'm going to play with some of those ideas. Perhaps even do a bit of recreational reading! :-) Thanks for coming here. Please stop back in on occassion to see what's going on. Friends are always welcome. Shadowfen

Random Ramblings (by Celine): Well, Singer was going to do the update tonight, but she's presently experiencing the joy of thunderstorms and periodic power outages. And Raven is still sick (send her get well emails! - ravensnevermore@home.com). So you're stuck with me.

Which means I get to share some really cool stuff. First up is a new Singer graphic -- dang it she's good -- called Uber Pair. You can view it at:

There's just something about an uber-Xena on a motorcycle. Makes me think of Harper from Exposure. :) Look for more awesome artwork (oooh yeah... I'm not just saying that) by Singer in tomorrow's update.

Other cool stuff - Raven, darling wonderful lovely Raven, did something *very* cool for me while she was at the Convention. She went around to various folks at the Bard's Brunch and got their autographs! Wanna see?

There are two pages full of autographs there. *Very* spiffy.

I want to thank *everyone* who signed it... I really, really, really appreciate it. And a BIG thank you to Raven for doing it. This fine lady also got me a variety of other Con memorabilia... such as a ForevaXenites shirt, an autographed copy of "Madam President", pictures of Gabrielle (one of them from Singer - thanks!) over which I am in major drool mode, an autographed copy of Roo's "Home Fires" (self published), pins/buttons (which I collect), bookmarks, stickers, and so on. And a bunch of postcards and pins/buttons (again, one from Singer :) ). etc., from Las Vegas, too.

So I'm a happy camper. I feel so loved. *sniff* :) And Tango the Wonder Kitten was quite happy to play with the box all of the stuff came in. So it was all good indeed.

    Friday May 18, 2001

Consider this (from Singer) I just wanna go on record as saying that I am still recuperating from the Con and tearing up Las Vegas with Raven, so anything may come out of my mouth at this point. The con was pretty good, although I had more fun at the non-con events. The Bard's Brunch, Sword and Staff event, and Exposure Breakfast, were the true highlights of the weekend for me. Raven is unstopable when it comes to getting autographs. I just wanted you to know that.
The Con...Claire and Alex!!! What else needs to be said? If anyone out there is still uninformed as to the happenings at the Cabaret, allow me to fill you in. Thanks to the generosity of another con goer, I was able to get a ticket. Then, to my surprise, the great, all-powerful Raven gave me HER seat so that me and my 2 foot camera lens could get up close and personal with the stars on stage. Claire and Alex came out dressed in little tuxedo thingies, and began the festivities by reading....FAN FIC!!!Yes, that's what I said. Fan fic. Oh my gawd!! The crowd went wild...except for that liitle old couple who left in the middle of the...ooops, I get ahead of myself. So they spend about 30-40 minutes reading some wonderful subtext, with Alex being Xena and Claire as Gabrielle. (sigh) The last piece comes to an end with Xena and Gab moving in for a deep, heart-felt kiss. Alex and Claire stare at one another. The audience holds a collective breath (interrupted by a few of us screaming for a kiss). They move closer...and closer...and just as you think you're gonna see a liplock, the little hats come up to cover the whole thing. Screams erupt from the convention center. I bend over in laughter. My head snaps up as the screams become cheers. The hats are slowly lowered to reveal....YES!!! It's a liplock. A glorious, lesbian liplock. Snap, click, snap, click, snap, click. My camera goes into overdrive. The kiss must have gone on for at least three days. Oh yeah, that's when the little old couple left. Hehehehehehehehe. Guess it was just too much for them.
Thank you for the seat, Raven!!!
Lucy and Renee on stage together. That's what it was all about, right? Well, I must admit that I was a bit disappointed with the whole thing. I shot over 7 rolls of film while they were up there, and in most of them, Lucy looks like she'd rather be somewhere else. I guess it may have been a bit overwhelming for them, but I would've thought they realized by now that we are the reason they were there. It was great seeing them in person, but I have to say that I enjoyed Claire, Hudson, and Alex much, much more.
The pics turned out pretty well, despite Cremation's efforts to keep the convention center as dark as possible. How else would they be able to hold their monopoly on exclusive pics. Once I go through all the pics, I'll ask Raven and Celine if they'd like to post the good ones on the site. Everyone join me in saying...Please Raven and Celine...let Singer put the pics up!!
On a cool note, guess who A and I met in the hotel lobby? We're returning from the con to take a break before something, and this women pops around the corner with a Bruce Campbell t-shirt on. She sees us and our xena badges, and walks right up and says, "Have you seen Ted? He was supposed to have checked in by now. I'm Bruce's wife." We realize that she's referring to Ted Raimi, and I almost choke. Thanks to A, we didn't look like idiots. She explains that we are only fans, and that we don't know if Ted's in the hotel or not. She says, "Oh no...there's no such thing as just fans." How gracious. Then, another hotel employee sees us later, also assuming that we're part of "the xena group" and asks us if we are enjoying the event. As it turns out, most of the stars that were at the con were staying in the same hotel that we were. How cool is that?
Anyway, that's about it for me and the con. I had all these great adventures that I was going to tell you about...things that Raven did, of course, but I guess they'll just have to wait. ;)
So on with the good stuff...

Random Ramblings (by Celine): In site news, did you know you've been having this unconscious desire to sign and view a guestbook at Beyond Uber. Yes, my friend, you have. Well, guess what? I made one. And you can sign *and* view it. What a deal! Okay, so who doesn't have a guestbook on their site. But that's not the point. The point is we now have one. So, give in to that unconscious desire and sign it. :)

In other site news, I did a bit of reformatting on the front page (http://www.beyonduber.com) to make things easier to access. The voting thingie should be easier to spot... hey, why don't you check it out and see? And maybe even vote while you're there.

I'm about to go to sleep here, so I suppose I should upload/send this before I do. Have a happy Wednesday, everyone.

    Random Ramblings (by Celine):

Greetings all. Just have to say right off the bat the following people and sites rock big time:

Each of the above has helped our site when its old server was down and has helped us announce its new location. Thanks to all of you! All of us at Beyond Uber really appreciate it. Forgive me if there is anyone I missed. If so, I greatly apologize. Feel free to email me (uber@wvi.com) and whack me upside the virtual head for being a moron.

In domain news, http://www.beyonduber.com should be working for most of you out there... sometimes it takes a couple of days for DNS servers (the things which tell your browsers were to go) in various parts of the world to update to include new domains. So if it's not working for you yet, it will be soon.

In site news, I've added a front page to the site, and have modified the what's new page (which used to be the main page) a bit. And both pages have nifty animated text headings... just because (Raven told me to... er, Raven suggested it and I felt it was a wonderful idea! Yeah! ;) ). I also went through and formatted all of the old what's new pages to reflect the new site design. I don't know why I didn't do that sooner.)

In our lovely Beyond Uber editor Raven news, she's feeling a bit under the weather with another sinus infection. So if anyone's emailed her and hasn't heard back, she's not ignoring you, she just can't breath at the moment. She did ask me to cut off her nose, but I didn't feel that was the best course of action. Call me silly.

In Celine can't spell news, I want to thank Lisa for pointing out I'd spelled "parish" instead of "perish" in my mailing list subtitle the other day. That's why I love the folks who belong to our mailing list and visit our site. You're all so smart. And you're not afraid to tell us when we aren't so smart. :)

Oh, and speaking of MaryD, she's added a bunch of Lucia artwork to her Eva and Zoe site:

Two creative forces coming together like that is a great thing to see. :)

Raven's Ravings (by Raven- duh who else?): A Beyond Uber Announcement:

Hi to all you Fan Fiction and Original Fiction Addicts!

As some of you know I have just returned from the Con and must tell you I was overwhelmed with all the wonderful folks out there who give their time and talents to keep us all entertained with stories.

I remember back when (yea yea I'm old) I was receiving Missy's story At A Distance in daily emails ;) Seeing her published and writing scripts show how with the great support of all you readers and fans all the changes and progress we can make in this world. It was a natural progression and change is a part of growth and who knows where this will continue from here.

With this in mind and considering all the changes that Fan Fiction will face in the coming year, after discussing the best future for Beyond Uber I would like to announce that the UFFD and The Beyond Uber Crew (Raven, Celine and Singer) have decided to separate our sites. This is a mutual decision as we are both strong indexes and will most likely be reporting the same information as Uber fiction continues to grow.

The UFFD will continue to report Xena and Uber while Beyond Uber will now be owned by Raven, Celine and Singer and will be housed at our new address : http://www.beyonduber.com

This site addy will be active by Sunday till then we can be found at http://www.specialweb.com/xena/beyond.htm. We hope to expand our site to grown to accommodate Uber and Original fiction and with many other ideas to help keep our loyal readers entertained with more fun and artworks. Keep an eye out we will be growing by leaps and bounds.

At this time I would like to thank Barry and UFFD for their support in this change and for allowing us our creative licenses in building a tiny page into the expanded site it has become. It has been wonderful working with everyone at UFFD and we will continue to keep our sites linked so all you readers can find all the fiction you can!

I would also like to thank Celine and Singer for all your hard work in making this new site what it is today! Without Celine's Ramblings where would we all be ;) And without Singers Talented artwork.. well let me just say my T-shirt at the con was a HUGE success and I know you all will be looking forward to more of her artwork! This is a great team and I am proud to be a part of this site!

Special Thanks to Calli, Blaize, Michelle, Rhonda, Juliet and Peggy Lu for all their help with artwork, reporting and special project work making Beyond Uber an up to date and beautiful place to visit!

Thank you to all the loyal readers and fan fiction Nutballs that have made Beyond Uber a place to find fiction and given us an audience that will allow us to grow with you!

And finally a heartfelt thank you to ALL you wonderfully talented Bards who write these great stories and allow us to share them with the world and Webmasters who give their time and site space to house these wonderful works! We look forward to working with you on the new site!! Thank you for keeping us up to date with your latest additions as well!!

I open to all of you if you have ideas, suggestions or time and talent you would like to give for our new site to come forward and be heard, we hope to make Beyond Uber a site that will give you all the fiction your hearts and eyes can stand ;)

Random Ramblings (by Celine): I want to thank super duper bard Emily Mills for coming up with today's email name - the Uberdelic One. I think the name is very spiffy. :) If any of you have suggestions, feel free to email me at uber@wvi.com.

In our lovely Beyond Uber editor Raven news, I spoke with her about 15 zillion times on the phone today. She told me about the Con, about the $450 Lucy Lawless/Renee O'Connor autograph she bought, etc., and we talked about future plans for the Beyond Uber site. Raven is definitely our idea lady, and she always comes up with great ones. And you'll be seeing the fruits of those intellectual labors as we develop the site further.

So, keep your eyes tuned to your friendly Beyond Uber mailing list (join today!) and web site for details. ;)

In Tango the Wonder Kitten news, I had to go to the hardware store today and buy a new roller thing for the toilet paper holder Tango sabotaged the other day. I had to spend a whopping $3 to replace it (with a plastic version, vs. the metal version we had until Tango took the spring thingie out of it). I would take that money out of his allowance, but I'd have to start giving him one to do that... and where would he spend it, really. He never leaves the house. I think. You never really know with him. He could sneak out the window at night to go party with his friends for all I know.

In ya gotta have toys news, I have been informed I'm not alone. Nifty Beyond Uber reader Debbie said she has a variety of things which keep her company in her work van... a Xena doll and happy meal toys, and she has a bumper sticker which says "WWXD - What Would Xena Do." That is riding in style, if you ask me.

Also in ya gotta have toys news, I added a new one to my scooter, though I haven't taken a picture of it yet. I bought a Dexter (from the cartoon "Dexter's Laboratory") toy at Dairy Queen, and stuck him in between my two koosh people on my Purple Plaything (something which sounds dirty but isn't ;) ). It's quite cute. But pretty soon the scooter is going to be so crowded, there won't be any room for me. Guess I'll have to walk along side.

    In MaryD news:

Ace Xena web site maintainer and fantastic bard MaryD (Mary Draganis) told me her site for her Eva and Zoe stories (and books) has moved to a new URL:

That is a very cool URL, and a *very* nice site. So update your bookmarks, favorites, Post-It notes, wood carvings, dust finger writing, mental images, tattoos, and finger-painted murals to reflect the new URL. And note, the site is still being developed, so be sure to check back to see the new additions (including more artwork by the incredible talented Lucia!).

And you know what? You should buy MaryD's book, "Out of Darkness", which includes artwork by Lucia. I'm about to do that very thing here in a minute, from Amazon.com.

    What's New:

    Friday May 11, 2001

Random Ramblings (by Celine): I have had a sucky day, my friends. It's one of those times I just want to crawl under a rock and hide for the next year or so. But don't worry, I won't bore you with all of the details... okay, maybe a few. ;)

In good idea news, it would be a really good idea to keep the http://www.specialweb.com/xena/beyond.htm URL bookmarked or added to your favorites. This server is very reliable and easier to update. We'll keep this site updated for your viewing pleasure. :)

Early this morning, Tango the Wonder Kitten somehow hid the spring thingie from the toilet paper holder which, until last night, resided in the master bathroom. I have no idea where it is now (the spring thingie, not the bathroom). The rest of the holder is still there, so who knows what he did with it. I've asked Tango, but he ain't talkin'. The toilet paper, at present, has no place to hang. It's sad, really. We all need someplace to call our own, after all.

In happy news, the Beyond Uber announcement list has a whopping 458 members! As I have mentioned before, you guys simply rock. I hope you're enjoying your stay. Hey, while I'm here... if any of you have any feedback or suggestions for the site/list, let me know (uber@wvi.com). We here at your local Beyond Uber site are always open to any constructive ideas, etc., to help make the site and list all it can be. Hmmm. That sounds like the slogan for the U.S. Army... you know, be all you can be. But don't worry... we don't have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy. ;)

In Celine needs help news, I decided I really don't like to ride alone. Those of you familiar with my Purple Plaything (a Honda scooter) know I've been zipping quite a bit around town in the two or three months since I was given my bike.

I can't have actual passengers, so I've added a couple of little friends of the non-breathing sort to ride with me wherever I go. Wanna see?

They're little koosh people, and each of them has his own bike. The koosh on the left is Sammy the Surfer (complete with suntan lotion and an inner tube - he also has a surf board, but I couldn't find a way to hook that on... I haven't given up, though), and the one on the right is Rocky the Rocker (complete with a guitar and a mohawk). Now I'm never alone.

    Awesome Bard News:

GabGold, one of my favorite bards, has just informed me her fantastic story, "The Caretaker's Daughter" is going to be published by Shady Ladies Press. This is awesome. The book should be out next year. This is one you should definitely buy when it becomes available. Read more at:

And visit Gab's site at: Important lovely Beyond Uber editor Raven Update:

I just received an email from Raven... she's home! Now I can strangle her for being gone while the server was (and still is) down! Yeah! ;)

This is a message to all of you from her:

"Please let everyone know I said HI.. and will update Con stuff tomorrow.. that I could not phone home (cell wasn't working).. and that if they sent any email to me after the 5th that I was bouncing mail and to resend please.. and a special hello to "Group Therapy" and The "Slapaho tribe" from the Exposure Breakfast!"

There's a troubled past behind the young girls' eyes, one that will lead her back across the desert.

    • Dammit (... Visits the World Again) By Emily Mills posted at her site (Beyond Uber)
A bored and discarded diety brings two hapless strangers to it's 'home', an empty valley in the middle of nowhere, for some good conversation. Mix in the odd sheep and a revelation, some mud and a bloody nose, a world-changing event and a bit of brief nudity.

This is the sequel to "Dammit...Visits the World Again", so I strongly suggest you go read that before going on to this one, otherwise you might find yourself terribly lost. As for the story, well, now that Dammit, or rather Maggie as she's now known, is running into some backlash from her return to the world. An over-zealous televangelist kidnaps Steve's baby girl and uses her as ransom...so they'll "turn God over to him", because the real God doesn't fit into his ideals. Things don't go as planned.

    • This Is Not An Exit By Emily Mills posted at her site (Beyond Uber)
Dreamscape? Insanity's Realm? Single point of view narrative that takes place in a 'desert' and grapples with some relatively seriousish psychological issues. Loads o' surreal fun.

Random Ramblings (by Celine): Well. The xenafanfiction.com domain still isn't up yet. I don't know why either, as I'm still waiting to hear back. One of these days I'm guessing this will all get straightened out. Stranger things have happened.

Barry, who co-maintains the main UFFD site, has put up his own mirror of the what's new section at:

And the UFFD it is once again being updated, since Barry's back from the Xena Con.

In thank you news, I want to thank super duper fan fiction reviewer Lunacy for mentioning the mirrors of the UFFD and Beyond Uber in her latest update for her site:

It is greatly appreciated, and has helped a lot.

In other news, mighty fine bard, Emily Mills, is a silly lady. She thinks it's a *minor* thing that's she finished her "Rising Into Consciousness" uber novel... or, as she called it, "revised, rehashed, spat upon, smacked around, etc." (I just love that description. :) ) That's not minor, that's very cool news. Raven has been telling me to read Emily's stuff. I will, when I get some time (why can't life have a pause button??). And you should, too.

    • Rising Into Consciousness By Emily Mills posted at her site (Beyond Uber Alt)
Fate, destiny, whatever. A chance meeting between two very different people leads them down a very unexpected path. All sorts of mayhem ensues as one character's shady past catches up with her, the other's unpleasant childhood rears its head, and the two have to get through it all together - all the while forming a very strong friendship - which could result in some serious damage.

    Random Ramblings (by Celine):

Two things you may have already noticed:

    1. The domain is still down. I don't know why. But I'm sure it will be up soon. I'm very optimistic, you see. I just emailed the guy who runs the server to ask him when said server might start working again... I'll keep everyone posted. Or I must just go completely insane. If I do that, then I won't be worrying about the site anymore, will I? ;)

    2. My email address is... different. My other one, celinec@wvi.com, will still work, but I decided I wanted to separate out the stuff I do for this site/list from my regular email, hence this new email address, uber@wvi.com. I had to think long and hard for about 2 seconds to come up with the username. As for the name on the email... well, that's what Raven calls me. Blame her. :)
In our lovely Beyond Uber editor news, anyone trying to email her may have noticed her email box is full. Over quota. Bursting at the seams. So you can't email her right now. My guess is you won't be able to email her until she gets back and goes on a big email downloading spree. I think she gets back on the 12th, or something close to that. She told me, but darned if I can remember.

Oh, any bards with updates -- and please, let there be updates!! -- please send 'em to me (uber@wvi.com), since Raven isn't around to forward them to me. Thank ya much.

In Tango the Wonder Kitten news, I awoke early this morning to the lovely little thing playing with the toilet paper roll in the bathroom. Again. So when I closed the door to the bathroom, he came into my room and started knocking things off my shelves. That was *such* an improvement. And one or more of my lovely kitty darlings succeeded in almost knocking the guinea pig cage off into the floor sometime last night. Not a happy thing. We had to move it somewhere else. I don't need to have children... having cats is enough trouble as it is. :)

You know, I've had cats all my life (many, many kitties, in fact), but this bunch I have now is the rowdiest I've ever had. It must be something in the water. Or that all three of them are three-years-old or younger. Mere babes. Babes with a penchant for getting into trouble. A lot. I love them all, of course, but sometimes I just want to... well, make them sit in the corner until they think they can behave. A time out. Yeah, that's it.

Maybe I need one. Sleep sounds like an excellent idea.

Random Ramblings (by Celine): I didn't break Yahoo, honest. Just as I didn't break the xenafanfiction.com domain. I didn't do it! There's some bad presence out there obviously bent on oppressing Xena fan fiction/original fiction lovers!

In case you hadn't noticed, Yahoo is all screwed up, and as of this writing, isn't sending out messages. So who knows when you'll read this. Could be right after it's sent, it could be a week from now. I just don't know.

But fear not, my friends. They shan't keep up down. "We get knocked down, but we get up again... they're never gonna keep us down."

Inspiring words from a song ("Tubthumping") which also speaks of using the bathroom (at least, I hope they use a bathroom) on a frequent basis. But still, the sentiment in the lyrics quoted above are sound and true.

Thanks to ever helpful Beyond Uber reporter, Blaize, for bringing this yet-another-Yahoo-debacle to my attention.

I also didn't break my copy of Netscape, but for some reason, it's broken. It's just been one of those weeks.

Speaking of Blaize, here are some recommendations by our intrepid reporter:

    • The Gabriel Journals By Inyx posted at Inyx' Fan Fiction (Beyond Uber Alt)
From the same bard who brought us the Treasure of Serpent's Isle comes a tale of a young woman who gains the attention of a very dark & deadly vampire. A very dark series in places, NC17 so be warned. To quote the bard, "How can the evil in the world survive if there's no good left in it? A tale of a young woman, vampires, good and evil, threaded in history of the Gabriel Journals...Or as it was put to me Anne Rice meets Jane Austen... I think that about says it all."

    • Strings Attached By Inyx posted at Inyx' Fan Fiction (Beyond Uber Alt)
It's a story of a woman and... a woman and the uberXena's view and childbearing. One of my favoutite ubers. First released in October of 1999.

Random Ramblings (by Celine): My brain is fried. When Raven and Singer get back from gallivanting about the country, I think they should send *me* on a vacation. Some place where domains don't stop working, where I can read uber all day long... where I... where... "where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!!!!"

The stuff in quotes above are lyrics from a wonderful novelty song, "They Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa," a superb addition to the Annoying Song Syndrome (ASS). The lyrics can be found at:

    Read them. Feel my pain.

    :-)

Just kidding... really. I actually *like* working on this site, so I'm happy to do what I can to keep it online even when the domain is out to lunch. And I'm happy Raven and Singer went to the Con and will be continuing their vacation by going to Nevada for the next week or so. And I might add I have absolutely *no* desire to, should I ever actually meet either one of them in person, strangle them. No, not me. I am *fine*.

Really, I'm kidding. I'm just tired. I adore Raven and Singer. They're good people. Talented... kind... friendly... devoted to the uber cause... and from what I've been told, they bought me presents at the Con. How can I not like that? ;)

Hey, just received an email from Singer... she says she and Raven are sorry about the site problems and to tell everyone they said "hello." They haven't forgotten about us! :)

FYI -- In case you hadn't guessed... I'm not at all mad about any of this or at anyone. Just poking fun at a somewhat annoying situation.

In other news, I actually read an uber this weekend. A short one, but it's still an uber. And it turned out to be a very good one, so that's a happy thing.

Go read it. It's not very long, well written, and has a very interesting story line.

    Sunday May 6, 2001 - Update

No, the regular site isn't up yet. But, I do have some good news -- I can now access the files on the server, which means I can add the 'what's new' files from the UFFD (Ultimate Fan Fiction Directory), and I can add in Singer's artwork.

Note - I didn't mirror the whole UFFD site, as everything will be back up on Tuesday (probably), and it would be a lot of work for only a day or two. But I did archive all of the 'what's new' pages, at:

These pages won't be updated, as all of the folks who maintain it went to the Xena Con. But all of the previous what's new stuff is there, including the What's New Archive: In Beyond Uber news, Singer's wonderful artwork page is now working in full: I'll be posting a regular what's new update for the Beyond Uber site a little later. Thank you again for your continued patience while all of this gets worked out.

    Sunday May 6, 2001

Random Ramblings (by Celine): "And so it goes... and so it goes... and so will my sanity I suppose..." (With apologies to Billy Joel.)

The person who runs the xenafanfiction.com server is trying to set it up so I can access the files for the site... almost had it tonight, but another problem came up, so that's been delayed. I thought I'd mirror the main UFFD site, too... if I can get access, I will. I'll let everyone know if that occurs.

Never fear -- this will all get worked out in time. Because I say so. :)

In other news, helpful Beyond Uber report Blaize came up with a happy idea. Since new updates to stories are very few during Convention time, how about we "take a stroll down uber memory lane" (you put that so nicely, Blaize!)? I like that idea. Listed below the regular what's new update are the stories Blaize has chosen. Note -- we don't normally list Janice/Mel stories, but what the heck... I can do whatever I want. Everyone else is at the Con. Bwahahaha....

Ahem. Sorry. Anyway, in other other news, cow-loving bard, Dreams, has informed me she just might have her new site up sometime before the end of the century. Maybe even this next weekend. Stranger things have happened, after all. And when her site is up, and when I find out her site is up, I'll post it here. Oh, and Dreams... you'll pass your test. I've crossed my eyes, toes, and even my fingers on your behalf. And all the cows have their udders crossed. They weren't happy about that, really, but they did it just for you.

    And Celine's Recommendations:

Absolutely everything written by GabGold is worth a read or a re-read:

Personal favorites of her stories... well, all of them, but especially The Caretaker's Daughter and Dante's Island. And Chance Opportunity always makes me grin like a mad woman.

  • Saturday May 5, 2001 - Update

The regular site might not be back up until Tuesday due to unforeseen problems with the web server's circuit provider. I'll keep this page and the list up-to-date on any changes. And, of course, the regular what's new updates will continue as they always do. Thanks for your patience.

    Saturday May 5, 2001

Random Ramblings (by Celine): So. The site, as of this writing, is still down. Gone. Outta here. Has been down apparently all day (Friday). And I don't have *any* idea when it will be back up. I tried to contact the person who runs the server, but haven't heard back yet... and everyone else involved with the xenafanfiction.com site - Raven, Singer, Barry, Heartbrkn, CN -- are at the Con. They're all gone but me. *sniff*

So, I've set up this *temporary* mirror of the site on my domain. But I will warn you not everything works... such as the link to the UFFD page (well, duh), Singer's page doesn't have any graphics (Raven did that page, and I hadn't backed up those files yet), etc. But pretty much all of it works, and all the What's New updates are viewable.

The things I don't do for you, our faithful Beyond Uber visitors. I mean, I had to create the directory and upload the files... it was *so* *haaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrd*! Okay, it just took a couple of minutes and was easy. I'll let everyone know when the regular server is back up. Whenever that happens. I have no idea.

I heard from Singer today via email -- she said she and Raven are having fun at the Con and that they bought me some things. I like emails like that. :D (I'm kidding! Sort of!).

Short update tonight, as I could find but one story to include. But I understand it's a good story, so everything's happy on that front.

    What's New:

    Friday May 4, 2001

Random Ramblings (by Celine): Helpful Beyond Uber reporter Blaize and I have been commiserating about not being able to attend the Convention. While Raven and Singer are off having a high ol' time, here we sit, holding down the fort.

But I have Tango the Wonder Kitten to keep me... um, entertained, for lack of a better word. He's been a busy little kitty lately. Yesterday morning I went into the bathroom and found toilet paper spread *all* *over* the bathroom. It was in big bits, little bits, and everything in between bits. So, being the dutiful pet "owner" I am, I cleaned it all up and put it in the trash basket in the bathroom. Which obviously was a stupid thing on my part, because later that day I went into the bathroom to find toilet paper all over the place, all over again. And Tango was just sitting there in the middle of it like nothing was wrong. He didn't seem to get why I was cleaning up the toilet paper again. This time, however, I put the trash where he couldn't get to it.

But, alas... a little while ago, while I was taking a bath, the little critter decided -- right in front of me, I might add -- to start playing with the toilet paper on the roll. Again. I stopped him from doing too much damage this time, but I'm sure the war has just begun. :)

And when he's not playing with toilet paper, he's jumping up into my bedroom window while I'm trying to sleep and then jumping back down onto the bed. It makes for an eventful time in which I sort of sleep, feel a thud, wake up, see Tango looking at me, try to go back to sleep, sort of sleep, feel a thud, wake up... and so on.

It's a good thing he's cute. And that he's lovable. And very sweet. Because, darn it, he gets into a lot of trouble. And he's 8 months old now. Soon I'll have to start calling him Tango the Wonder Cat. Or, more accurately, Tango the "I Wonder What Sort of Trouble He's In Now" Cat.

In other news, I just set up my mother's computer to where it has a man saying, "You have mail, Mistress." She likes that. I don't blame her. If you're interested, you can download various mail wavs, including the "Mistress" one, at:

Don't ask me how to install them... every email program is different, so you'll have to do your own exploring on that matter. :)

    New Bard Sites:

Carrie Carr: Ass Kicking Bard has a spiffy new web site, designed by her equally ass kicking partner, AJ:

All of her Lex and Amanda (both of whom kick posterior end in grand fashion) stories are there, and you can buy her books. Which you should do. Right this very minute. :)

Bard Lady Savay also has a brand new and nicely designed site, where you can find her uber, "Beneath the Brambles," (which Raven keeps telling me to read) with more of her works to be posted soon.

    What's New:

    Thursday May 3, 2001

Random Ramblings (by Celine): Yep, it's me. Little ol' me. Not Raven, not Singer... just... me. Right now, Raven and Singer are in California, getting ready to party down at the Convention.

    I'm all alone.

Hehe... which means I can do whatever I want and no one can stop me!!! Whooooohoooooooooo!!! Oh... what to do, what to do... raise a little hell, spread mean & nasty rumors... scandalize, scandalize, scandalize!!!

Or, maybe not. I am tired, after all. Maybe tomorrow. I'll have to give it some thought. And I'm always up for suggestions. ;)

So. You guys like the new site, eh? I've heard from a bunch of folks, and it's all been positive. I thank everyone for writing, because, as always, you guys rock, and your feedback (good and bad) is important to us. I mean that from the bottom of my boogity, boogity shoes. I'll be writing to everyone who wrote me privately, on Thursday. See, we all know I procrastinate, but if I type this here in a public forum, that means I might actually do it. You just never know. :)

Speaking of the Con, some of the fiction sites won't be updating until after the whole shebang is over... but I'll do my best to keep those of you not attending the con informed. Because... gosh darn it, you're worth it.

Oh, and yes, I realize I mis-dated the update yesterday. When I grow up, maybe I'll learn how to read and tell time. I fixed it so all's happy now.

    Another great story getting published:

Radclyffe's "Innocent Hearts" is going to be published by RAP Books (http://www.rapbooks.com)! I adore this story (which she had posted in beta format on her mailing list) (http://www.egroups.com/group/Radclyffe-writings), and will definitely be waiting to buy it in print. This is in addition to three other books by Radclyffe being or already having been published. All of which I also want to buy. Gods... I need a bunch more money to buy all these books all these wonderful bards are publishing! Hey, you need to read Radclyffe's stories! If you already have, read 'em again!

The Swollen Buds are once again peaking:

The awards are out for May 1st:

Some awesome stories are once again among the chosen... personal faves are Madam President (yes, I didn't type *Madame* as a certain lovely Beyond Uber editor who is in Pasadena but I won't name names did when the story first came out) and Conspiracy of Swords. But all of 'em are good. Which could explain why they've received awards. Ya think?

    Random Ramblings (by Celine):

    ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!

As you may have already noticed (you observant devil you :) ), we have an entirely new look with a whole bunch of new features... lots of good stuff. Let me tell you about it (as if you could stop me)... ;)

    • Calli and Michelle have provided us with great new graphics
    • A brand spanking new (isn't that a funny phrase?) layout
    • An awards page - we're going to be giving out awards to sites, stories, etc.
    • A bio's page - yes, friends, you can read about Raven, Singer, and myself
    • An uber artwork section - you'll find Singer's page and previous Beyond Uber graphics... we'll soon be hosting graphics by other artists
    • A book publishing resource center - it has links to the major publishing houses which offer uber and original fiction by our favorite authors... I'm guessing Raven has plans for that page, but I'm really not sure :)
    • A just for fun section - a clearing house for the various non-uber site we mention in our what's new postings
    • And more stuff like that there. Have a look around, let us know what you think, don't be shy... your opinions are important to us.
The various pages will fill out as time goes on, but what's there is pretty spiffy... okay, so I'm biased. But we hope you'll agree it's spiffy, too. It's been fun to play with the new pages... we hope you'll like 'em.
